The Pyramid of Djoser is considered the first pyramid in Egyptian history and the oldest surviving monumental stone structure in the world. Built around 2630 BC for Pharaoh Djoser and designed by Imhotep, it began as a large mastaba and evolved into a six‑tier step pyramid.

It stands at the center of a vast ceremonial complex enclosed by a perimeter wall, created to host rituals associated with royal power and the cult of the sovereign.
